| Montessori's Philosophy |
| Following the child... The founder, Dr Maria Montessori, discovered in her research 100 years ago that children don't have to be forced to learn - they actually want to! And they learn best when given the opportunity to explore according to their interests. So the philosophy which guides everything we do in our Montessori childcare is to follow the child. It is applied at every aspect of the child's education. Children learn at different paces and have different interests. That is why an important part of the Montessori approach is the one-to-one relationship between your child and his teacher. By observing and engaging, the teacher knows how they are advancing, and when it is time to move them up to more challenging exercise. |
| Our Teachers |
| We are in the best position to provide your child with authentic Montessori Education as our teachers are Montessori-trained. Our highly dedicated teachers are required to attend regular trainings. |
| Our Curriculum |
We have re-structured the Montessori program to prepare our children for the challenge of formal education in primary school. Ultimately, our objective is to mould our children to have confidence, competence, creativity, social skills and the right attitude towards learning. Our curriculum consists of the 5 areas of Montessori education integrated for the total development of your child.Practical Life exercises instill care for themselves, for others and for the environment. The activities include many of the tasks children see as part of the daily life in their homewashing and ironing, doing the dishes, arranging flowers, buttoning shirts, tying shoe-laces, etc. Elements of human conviviality are introduced with the exercises of grace and courtesy. Through these and other activities, children develop muscular coordination, enabling movement and the exploration of their surroundings. They learn to work at a task from beginning to end, and develop their will, their self discipline and their capacity for concentration. |
Sensorial - Prior to reading and writing, children learn and absorb the world around them through their five senses. The sensorial exercises develop the capability of their five senses. These exercises also form the basis for other areas of development such as the knowledge of dimension, grading quality, vocabulary etc. |
![]() Language & Phonics - English language is taught by the phonetic method i.e. teaching the child the sounds made by each letter of the alphabet. The child will learn reading first and be gradually introduced to grammar and creative writing. Chinese language is also included. |
Mathematics - Montessori mathematics is taught as early as three, by giving the child objects to hold, count and manipulate. Theses activities help him learn the fundamentals of simple addition, subtraction, multiplication and division to ensure a good mathematics foundation before the child enter Primary One. Mortensen Maths is applied to reinforce mathematical concepts. |
Cultural - Cultural education enriches the child's understanding of all aspects of the world he lives in. It covers sciences, geography, history, zoology, music, arts and craft. |
|
Others - Besides the above, we have included other enrichment programs as follows:
1. Computer 2. Speech & Drama 3. Music for the Young |
